Jim May  is a senior public affairs and government relations consultant, and has served in executive level positions at several of the nation’s largest trade associations.  He began his career as a Marine Corps company commander in Viet Nam, developing the leadership qualities that would be essential to his career.

As President and CEO of the Air Transport Association (now known as Airlines for America), Jim directed the organization through a time of painful industry consolidation, the aftermath of 9/11 – along with the security precautions that ensued – and a variety of regulatory and legislative challenges.

He was previously Executive Vice President of the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB). During his tenure at NAB, May led efforts to pass four major pieces of legislation. Among these was winning passage of the Cable Act of 1992, achieving the only successful override by Congress of a veto by President George H.W. Bush.

In the spirit of a true bipartisan, Jim ran government relations for PepsiCo and then for the Coca-Cola Bottling Company of New York. He served as Vice President of Public Affairs for the Grocery Manufacturers of America and managed the myriad of issues in bringing food from farm to table.

Among his many awards, Jim received the Silver Anvil, the public relations profession’s most prestigious honor, by directing communications programs to serve public affairs objectives. Jim is equally effective in a board room, testifying before Congress or managing the media. And when Jim is not advocating for his clients you can guarantee he is enjoying the outdoors, ideally, fly fishing on an isolated flat.
